Lost in Translation

Not all translations are created equal. Many people are not aware of this, but for a Bible translation to get a copyright, they must show a substantial amount of changes that make it a unique work. That means they must make their translation noticeably different from others. To do this, they must make a decision about what words they will translate differently than other translations. It is an intentional effort to alter their translation. This is a scary thought, because that means each translation might contain distortions, errors, and intentional changes, all in the name of having a copyright claim.  They are literally perverting the word of God for money.

The problem is that all translations have problems. It seems that the best thing to do is find the one that has the fewest problems.  This will not be an exhaustive study on the subject, but I do want to give some valuable information that might help you in making your selection.
