False Teachers

Popular Christian Theology teaches that "we no longer need to obey the commandments", but is that really what the Bible says? Is it possible that the church is being deceived by many false teachers today?  What does the Bible say about false teachers? How can we know if someone is teaching false doctrines?

Yeshua said:
  • "I did not come to destroy the Torah" (Matt. 5:17)
  • "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:19)
  • "if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matt. 19:17)

Paul said:
  • "Do we abolish the Torah by this faith? Heaven forbid! On the contrary, we establish the Torah." (Rom. 3:31)
  • "keeping the commandments of God is what matters" (1Cor. 7:19)

John said:
  • "we know Him, if we keep His commandments" (1Jn. 2:3-4)
  • "whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments" (1Jn. 3:22)
  • "he who keeps His commandments abides in Him" (1Jn. 3:24)
  • "love God and keep His commandments" (1Jn. 5:2-3)
  • "His commandments are not burdensome" (1Jn. 5:3)
  • "This is love, that we walk according to His commandments" (2Jn. 1:6)

James said:
  • "the perfect Torah of liberty" (James 1:25)
  • "the royal Torah according to the Scripture" (James 2:8)
  • "speak and do as those who will be judged by the Torah" (James 2:12)

Revelation says:
  • "keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Yeshua" (Rev. 12:17)
  • "those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Yeshua" (Rev. 14:12)
  • "those who do His commandments… have the right to the tree of life" (Rev. 22:14)

BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHERS:
  • "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing" (Matt. 7:15)
  • "Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many… Lawlessness will abound" (Matt. 24:11-12)
  • "false prophets will rise... to deceive, if possible, even the elect" (Matt. 24:24)
  • "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables." (2Tim. 4:3-4)
  • "there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies… And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed… While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption… it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them." (2Peter 2:1-21)

False teachers say:
  • "This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the Torah; for we have heard him say that Yeshua of Nazareth… will change the customs Moses handed down to us." (Acts 6:13-14)
  •  "This man is trying to persuade people to worship God in ways that violate the Torah." (Acts 18:13)

In Conclusion:

The false teachers are those who teach that the Torah is done away with and that we no longer need to keep the commandments of God. This is an extremely popular concept among Christian preachers, teachers, authors, and theologians, however, the Bible tells us not to go along with the crowd, but to enter by the narrow gate.
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:13-15)

You see, false teachers take the masses down the wide road to destruction, opposing God and His commandments. Follow Yeshua, obey the commandments, and teach others to do the same. (Matthew 5:19)
